Miracles

A Miracle is defined as an event that appears to be contrary to the laws of nature and is regarded as an act of God.

Miracle #3

Lisa awoke Monday morning with the knowledge that her tumor no longer resided in her breast. Amazingly, her mouths sores had departed as well. The vanishing tumor sent her in a tale-spin because she realized that her prayers had been answered and that today’s doctor visit would prove a miracle. She was seized with elation and joy while dressing for the day’s appointment because she knew he would prove to family & friends what her heart already acknowledged.

She arrived at Piedmont West at a few minutes past one because when your worst enemy has disappeared, a sense of freedom from a sharp one o’clock appointment overcomes you. Lisa’s mother, father, husband, and daughter joined her at the hospital for her third chemo treatment. Every treatment begins with a visit from your oncologist and a series of blood tests.  The results are checked before you can be allowed another chemotherapy douse.

Lisa was quickly called back to her room upon checking in. She shared with her family the news of the disappearing tumor. The room was buzzing with hope and excitement over the notion that this could be true. We held our breath, as the doctor entered not wanting to let on to our anticipation because we knew that this might be sound crazy for a doctor to hear. We all realized this tumor miracle had to be seen. A tumor as large as Lisa’s could not be destroyed in just two-chemo treatment with out the help of our heavenly father. Miracles such as Lisa’s have transpired for we know God practices many, but it is certainly not an everyday occurrence.

The doctor greeted everyone happily while he reviewed the blood work. He was astonished to realize everything was in perfect order. He questioned her about fatigue, vomiting, mouth sores, and other common side effects of which she had none except for the mouth sore, which ironically vanished that morning too. He stated to all how remarkable her health was holding up. He was then ready for the breast test, exactly what we had all been waiting for.

Lisa was so eager for the answer she knew lay ahead that she blurted out how excited she was for him to feel her missing tumor, revealing what we all knew. He shook his head in doubt, but continued on with the exam, beginning with the right breast for measure. He followed the right with the left, supposed tumor afflicted breast. As soon as he began to press and probe, his demeanor changed from doubt to mystified belief. He spoke in amazement about the fact that the tumor had truly disappeared. The doctor choked up and relayed to the room that the test gave him goose bumps that made him want to weep. We all leapt up with tears of happiness over the missing tumor. My grandfather commented, that our celebration might be larger than New Orleans’ last night.

The results have reassured us of Mom’s recovery that will prove to be quicker than we were told. She will still undergo the allotted chemotherapy treatments, but now the radiation and mastectomy are in question. She will get a mammogram, sonogram, and a MRI to double check what we already know, but the regular procedures must take place to prove God’s miracle. We cannot thank you enough for all the prayers that have gone up for to Lisa. She has heard every one. Lisa is sleeping well tonight because she is has spent the better part of today praising the Lord.

Miracle #2

A dear friend of Lisa’s recently had a brain tumor removed. Below is an account of the miraculous outcome from a close friend.

“My friend is already out of surgery, and the news is great.  Though it was malignant, the doctor said it had not spread, and this cancer was its primary source.  He said that because the tumor was well contained the surgery took less time than anticipated.  He said the brain was already going back into the place where the tumor had been, and there was no discoloration, which is another positive sign.

Although her husband had not yet seen her, he had talked with the doctor who was very, very upbeat and pleased at the results of surgery.  He had been told that she was already talking, and he hoped to see her in a couple of hours.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!  Let’s keep praying!!”

Miracle #1

Last week Lisa discovered that her breast tumor was red and swollen. She called the doctor to report on these developments and was horrified to find out that it could be infected. The infection would set her chemotherapy back, which would ultimately delay her recovery. Lisa is the mother of the bride in her daughter’s wedding this fall and everyone is praying that her recovery will go as scheduled. She called one of her best friends, Mary, who is a very spiritual lady and wears many hats for the Lord, one being the preacher in the upcoming wedding. Mary was in a spiritual shut in at her church at the time so gathered all her prayer warriors and prayed with Lisa over the tumor infection.

When Lisa awoke the next morning she found her prayers had been answered. She is still on the recovery schedule we had prayed for and has never felt the infection again. This is one of the many Miracles Lisa will encounter through breast cancer.

We encourage you to write in miracles that have occurred in your own life. Please email me or send a comment titled Miracle. We want this page to be full of miracles by the time Lisa has recovered. Miracles make us realize that God is truly out there and bring hope to unfortunate situations. A miracle is an event that appears to be contrary to the laws of nature and is regarded as an act of God.
